There will be a meeting Monday at 4:00 in the library for all students interested in playing golf this year. If you cannot make it to the meeting, please contact John VanVleet.
Tickets go on sale Monday! Mr PHS will be held on Tuesday, March 8th.
There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing softball on Thursday at 4 pm in Mr. Ormond's room. We will discuss the tryout schedule for this weekend and expectations for the year.
Tryouts will be held this Friday from 9am-10:30 for juniors and seniors, then from 11am-12:30 for freshmen and sophomores. Saturday will be from 10am-noon for all girls together. Remember, you must have a physical on file to try out.
Preston High School Music Department is hosting a fundraiser concert this Saturday, Feb. 27th. It will be at 7 PM in the PHS Auditorium and will feature the band Wood Music Live, plus local talent 11 year old Tate Porter. Tickets are $5.00 and can be bought from any high school music student, Miss Durrant, or at the Preston Citizen. It will be an AWESOME concert complete with a light show, so please come! All proceeds go toward the Choir/Band/Orchestra trip to San Diego.
The Bennett Cup will be held April 13th and 14th. Bennett Cup applications are available at the office. It is open to all grades and the categories are piano, instrumental, strings and vocal. All musical students are urged to enter!
The National Honor Society will be meeting at the Larsen-Sant Library for the quilt service project Friday, February 26th from 8 a.m. to noon. Come anytime and help as long as you can.
Idaho Opportunity scholarship Deadline is approaching. Applications are due March 1. Go to www.boardofed.idaho.gov to apply, or double check that your application is complete.
PRESTON’S STAR TALENT SHOW
Seeking talented students and community members. Mandatory attendance at the auditions on March 11th at the Preston North State Center. Date of Talent Show is Friday, March 25. TRACK & FIELD
Anyone interested in competing in Track and Field, there will be 4 preseason meetings beginning next week, one for each grade. Sophomores will be TODAY.
Freshman will be THURSDAY.
Each meeting will be immediately after school in Coach Lyon's room. If you are interested in competing this spring you must be to this meeting. If for some reason you cannot attend you need to talk either Coach Lyon or Coach Taylor at least a day before your meeting. The first official practice will be the morning of Friday, February 26. There will also be practice the morning of Saturday, February 27.
Baseball Tryouts will be Friday and Saturday, February 26 & 27th. Friday they will start @ 6:30 AM in the old gym and Saturday 8:00 AM in the old gym. You must have a physical on file to tryout.
Registration for the April ACT must be done by March 4th. Please go on-line to www.actstudent.org or see the counselors if you have questions.
There will be an ACT prep class starting MONDAY February 29 to help students get ready for the April ACT. Cost is $25, pay at the office to sign up. Classes will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM. See counselors if you have questions.
If you are interested in engineering or computer science, you should sign up for Utah State’s Engineering State. It will be held at USU June 6-9. Students must register by March 18. See counselors for more info.
ISU TECH EXPO
Thursday March 17. This event showcases how College of Technology programs connect to job opportunities. If you would like to attend please sign up in the counseling office.
WOMEN AND WORK CONFERENCE
Wednesday March 9 at ISU, learn about occupations in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students get the chance to do hands on career exploration. Cost is $10 and includes lunch. See a counselor to sign up.
HISPANIC LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE AT USU
Friday February 26- Hispanic students interested in developing leadership skills and learning about the importance of leadership in higher education. It is free to attend, but students must sign up. See counselors for more info.
